I was just accepted to OUCOM. Is there anyone out there attending this school? If so, how do you like it so far?

For all those getting ready to take exams...

Rotations are WAY better than the classroom.

I got to partially cut a mole off and suture the skin back together. Ok really the doc cut the mole off. But I did the last little snip of the scissors so and put the specimen in the little jar... I took it off. It was a great day in the clinic. Although it makes you a little nervous to have someone else very intent on watching your hands, and real skin is nothing like that foam stuff you practice on. But overall it was good, and the sutures were pretty, and I didn't mess up or look dumb.

OHHH... and we treated a patient with Gaucher's. She's a regular at the clinic I am at. She comes in bimonthly for her meds (which happen to cost 15,000 for 2 weeks... yes you read that right... 15,000). So she was fun to talk to.

There is eventually light at the end of the tunnel.

Okay, you osteopaths. I need opinions. Boards time is rapidly approaching, and right now I'm signed up for only COMLEX. Can anyone out there think of a really compelling reason for/against the idea of taking step 1 of the USMLE as well? I've heard conflicting things, and thought I'd ask people *not* from my school. Coudn't bear the thought of the drama I'm sure it would kick off over on SDN, so I figured I'd try here first. :)

So? What do you think?

I figure it's about time I introduce myself.

Name: Jack

School attending/want to attend: I am currently attending UC Santa Cruz getting undergrad stuff done. I really like AZCOM and NYCOM. I was actually wondering if you guys know which schools are more transgender friendly seeing that I am a trans student.

Speciality: I really like emergency medicine or OB.

Thanks!

Just out of curiosity ...

1. Does your school use a Letter system or a Pass/Fail system for the didactic years of your DO programme?
2. If you *ARE* graded using the Pass/Fail system for the didactic years (1&2), what med school do you attend?

PBL
Question? Problem Based Learning

I know we have at least 2 LECOM students who do PBL. I don't know if any of the other schools do it or not. How exactly does it work? Do you like it? Do you feel you are learning enough from it?

Begin discussion now.
